Our One Book Wonder this week is You Dreamed of Empires, Mexican writer Álvaro Enrigue's latest that was included in the New York Times 10 Best Books of 2024 (gift link here if you want to refresh your memory of the full line up). It's a hallucinatory tale of the conquistadors' arrival at Moctezuma's gates, short, strange, spike and sublime, but also not without its pronunciation challenges, for which I hope you'll forgive any errors.
A book that Laura and I may have felt tentative about picking up, given the subject matter, but both agree was a book that made us fall in love with reading all over again.
Have a listen in and see what you think, and do comment below if you've read it, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
