I’ve started making these introductory episodes and I thought I’d share this one here just in case any of you Substackers are interested or want to read along. I loved finding out more about Laurent Binet, and it was a good excuse to find out a bit more about translator Sam Taylor, who I associate with many stand-out brilliant reads (Lullaby by Leila Slimani and Charlotte by David Foenkinos being two in particular that spring to mind). I also discovered Walter of Walter Presents and ended up feeling thoroughly inspired about cultural curiosity, and reading more books in translation.
